Laundromat Vending Machines: Which Products Sell Best?
Vending machines are passive revenue. Once stocked and maintained, they generate income with minimal effort. But the product mix matters — the wrong products sit unsold while the right ones need constant restocking.
Laundry Essentials (Highest Volume)
Single-use detergent pods, fabric softener sheets, and bleach packets are your highest-volume items. Every customer who forgot to bring detergent is a guaranteed sale. Price these at $1.50-$2.50 per unit. Stock name-brand options — customers trust brands they recognize, and buying vending stock in bulk keeps the per-unit cost down.
Dryer Sheets and Fabric Softener
The second most popular category. Many customers use dryer sheets as a default, so having them available captures sales from customers who didn't bring their own. Small packs of 5-10 sheets priced at $1.00-$1.50 sell consistently.
Snacks and Drinks
Bottled water, chips, candy bars, and energy drinks sell well in laundromats with longer wait times. If customers are spending 60-90 minutes at your location, they'll buy snacks. Place vending machines in the seating area, not hidden in a corner; our laundromat layout guide shows where waiting customers actually sit.
What Doesn't Sell
Specialty items like stain removers, clothing repair kits, and lint rollers have very low turn rates. Most customers don't need these items, and they tie up vending machine slots that could hold higher-volume products.
Machine Types
Combination snack/drink machines serve the widest range. Dedicated soap vending machines (often provided by chemical suppliers) handle laundry essentials. If space allows, one of each is ideal; most equipment distributors sell soap vendors alongside washers and dryers, so price one into your next order (see our laundromat equipment buying guide). If you can only fit one, prioritize laundry essentials — they serve a need no other nearby business fills.
Revenue Expectations
A well-placed, well-stocked vending machine in a busy laundromat generates $200-$500/month in revenue. After product costs and any revenue sharing with the machine provider, expect to net roughly half of that per machine. Not life-changing, but it's passive income that adds up over time alongside the other revenue streams beyond wash and dry.
