How to Use Social Media to Promote Your Laundromat
Social media for laundromats isn't about going viral — it's about staying visible to your local community. Here's what works on each platform and how much time it actually takes.
Facebook (Most Important)
Facebook is still the strongest platform for local businesses. Create a business page with complete info, photos, and regular updates. Post 2-3 times per week: facility photos, maintenance updates, special promotions, community events, and tips. Join local community groups and participate (don't just promote). Facebook's local search and recommendations feature drives real foot traffic.
Instagram works for laundromats with good visual content. Before and after renovation photos, clean machine close-ups, product installation shots, and behind-the-scenes maintenance content all perform well. Use local hashtags and location tags. Stories are great for real-time content — a time-lapse of mopping the floor or installing new soap tray kits shows customers you care about quality.
Google Business Profile (Not Social Media, But Critical)
Post updates to your Google Business Profile weekly (our Google Business Profile guide covers the full setup). These show up directly in Google Search and Maps results. Share promotions, new services, and hours changes. Respond to every review — positive and negative. This platform drives more direct traffic than any social media channel.
What to Post
Content ideas that work: clean facility photos, new equipment or accessories installed, customer testimonials, behind-the-scenes maintenance work, seasonal promotions, community involvement, and helpful tips (how to sort laundry, how to remove stains). Avoid: overly polished or generic stock photos — customers want to see your actual laundromat.
Time Investment
Spend 30 minutes per week on social media. That's enough for 2-3 Facebook posts, 1-2 Instagram posts, and 1 Google Business Profile update. Batch your content creation — take photos on one day and schedule posts for the week. Don't let social media become a time sink that takes you away from running the business; our marketing-on-a-budget post covers where the rest of your marketing time should go.
Measuring Results
Track new customer mentions of social media ("How did you find us?" sign at the entrance, covered in our laundromat signage and carts guide), Google Business Profile views, and any changes in traffic after starting consistent posting. Expect measurable results after a few months of consistent posting.
