How to Use Google My Business to Get More Laundromat Customers

When someone searches "laundromat near me," Google Business Profile determines who shows up. If your profile is incomplete or inactive, you're invisible to potential customers. Here's how to optimize it.

Claim and Verify Your Profile

Go to business.google.com and claim your listing. Google will verify ownership through a postcard, phone call, or email. This is step one — without verification, you can't edit your profile or respond to reviews.

Complete Every Field

Fill in everything: business name, address, phone number, website, hours of operation, services offered, and business description. Include keywords naturally: "self-service laundromat," "wash and fold," "commercial washers," and your neighborhood or city name. The more complete your profile, the higher Google ranks you in local search.

Add Quality Photos

Upload at least 10 photos: exterior (so customers recognize the building), interior (clean, well-lit shots of your machines), specific features (folding tables, seating area, vending), and any recent improvements. Update photos quarterly. Google's own published data has shown that listings with photos get noticeably more direction requests and website clicks than those without.

Collect and Respond to Reviews

Ask every satisfied customer to leave a review. Post a QR code linking to your review page near the exit (our laundromat signage and carts guide covers what else belongs on the wall). Respond to every review — positive ("Thank you, we appreciate your business!") and negative ("We're sorry about your experience. Please call us so we can make it right."). Review count and recency are major ranking factors.

Post Weekly Updates

Google Business Profile has a Posts feature — use it. Share promotions, new services, equipment upgrades, and community involvement. Posts appear directly in search results and signal to Google that your business is active and engaged. Reuse the photos from your social media posts here too.

Services and Attributes

Add all applicable services: self-service laundry, wash and fold, pickup and delivery, dry cleaning drop-off. Select relevant attributes: wheelchair accessible (check our laundromat ADA compliance post before you claim it), free Wi-Fi, parking available, card payment accepted. These help Google match your business with specific customer searches.

Monitor Insights

Check your Google Business Profile insights monthly. Track how customers find you (direct search vs. discovery), what actions they take (directions, calls, website visits), and which photos perform best. This data tells you what's working and where to improve.
