How to Handle Multi-Location Laundromat Operations

Running one laundromat is a hands-on operation. Running two or more requires systems. Without them, quality drops, costs balloon, and you end up spending all your time driving between locations instead of growing the business.

Standardize Everything

The single most important thing for multi-location success is standardization. Every location should look, feel, and operate the same way. Same machine layout logic. Same cleaning schedules. Same signage. Same soap tray organizer kits with the same color-coded system. When a customer visits any of your locations, the experience should be consistent.

Central Purchasing

Buy supplies in bulk across all locations. Detergent, cleaning supplies, replacement parts, and accessories like soap tray liners are all cheaper per unit when you order for multiple sites. Negotiate volume pricing with your suppliers — even a 10% discount across 3 locations adds up fast.

Remote Monitoring

Install cloud-connected cameras at every location. Modern systems let you check in from your phone, review footage, and even get alerts for unusual activity. Some machine manufacturers now offer connected machines with remote diagnostics — consider this when upgrading equipment.

Staff Management

Each location needs a reliable point person. Create clear SOPs so attendants know exactly what to do without you being present. Weekly check-in calls and monthly in-person visits keep standards high. Cross-train staff between locations so you have backup when someone calls out.

Financial Tracking by Location

Track revenue, costs, and margins separately for each location. What works at one site may not work at another. Separate P&L statements let you identify which locations need attention and which are running smoothly.

Growth Framework

Before adding another location, make sure your existing ones are running on systems — not on your personal presence. If the business falls apart when you're not there, you're not ready to expand.
