How to Install AirTag Holders on Laundry Carts

What You Need

An AirTag holder 4-pack (includes 4 holders, 8 security screws, a security driver bit, and 4 screw-hole caps), 4 Apple AirTags (sold separately), an iPhone with the Find My app, and a drill for two small pilot holes per holder. The security screws and driver bit come in the pack.

Step 1: Insert the AirTag

Each holder is a two-piece snap-fit enclosure. Place the AirTag in lid-first, then snap the base closed so the AirTag sits fully enclosed. The holder protects the AirTag from impacts and keeps it secured during cart movement.

Step 2: Choose the Mounting Location

Mount the holder under the handle bar or along the bottom rail of the cart frame. This position is discreet (customers and potential thieves won't notice it), protected from bumps, and allows strong Bluetooth signal propagation. Avoid mounting inside enclosed frame sections that could block the signal.

Step 3: Attach to the Cart

The holder fits any standard wire-frame laundry cart, including R&B Wire, Dandux and Steele Canvas. Use the holder as a template to mark and pre-drill two pilot holes, drive the two security screws with the included bit, then snap the caps over the screw heads. Give it a tug to make sure it won't come loose during normal cart use.

Step 4: Register in Find My

Open the Find My app on your iPhone. Tap "Add New Item" and follow the prompts to register each AirTag. Name them by cart number (Cart 1, Cart 2, etc.) so you can identify which cart is where. If you have more than 4 carts, prioritize your newest or most expensive ones first.

Checking Cart Locations

If a cart leaves your premises, you'll see its location update as it passes near other Apple devices. Most "missing" carts are within a few blocks — customers took them to their car and forgot to return them.

Battery Replacement

AirTags use a CR2032 battery that lasts approximately one year. Set a calendar reminder to check batteries annually. Replacement batteries cost under $1 each. The Find My app will also alert you when battery is low.
