How to Install a Dexter Soap Tray Organizer Kit
The Dexter soap tray organizer kit installs in minutes per machine with no tools required. Here's the full walkthrough.
What's Included
The Dexter kit includes custom-molded color-coded liners sized specifically for Dexter front-load commercial washers (the T-300 through T-600 models covered in our Dexter T-series guide), plus bilingual labels (English/Spanish) for detergent, fabric softener, and bleach compartments.
Step 1: Open the Soap Hopper
Lift the dispenser lid on the top deck. Dexter T-series washers use a lidded top hopper, not a pull-out drawer, so there's nothing to remove and no release tab to find. The three compartments sit right under the lid.
Step 2: Clean Out Residue
Use warm water and a stiff brush to remove any caked-on detergent or softener residue, the same cleaning that's on our Dexter washer maintenance checklist. Pay special attention to the channels between compartments — buildup here causes dispensing failures. Dry the tray completely.
Step 3: Insert the Color-Coded Liner
Drop the liner into the tray. It's molded to the exact dimensions of the Dexter tray, so it sits in place without adhesive. Each compartment is a different color, creating an instant visual guide for customers.
Step 4: Apply the Labels
Stick the bilingual label on the hopper lid. It maps the three compartments in English and Spanish and faces the customer as they look down into the open hopper, so they see it before they start pouring.
Step 5: Close the Lid and Test
Close the hopper lid and make sure it sits flat with the liner in place. Run one cycle and watch that each compartment flushes; a liner sitting high is the usual cause when one doesn't.
Fleet Rollout Strategy
For large installations, batch the work. Pull all trays first, clean them in a group (a utility sink works well), then install liners and labels assembly-line style. Two people can outfit 30+ machines in under 3 hours if they avoid the common Dexter install mistakes. Label a few machines first and watch customer reactions — you'll see the confusion drop immediately.
