Dexter T-300 vs T-600: Which Washer Size Do You Need?

The T-300 (20 lb capacity) and T-600 (40 lb capacity) are the two most common models in laundromats. Choosing between them — or finding the right mix — depends on your customer base and floor plan.

T-300: The Everyday Workhorse

The T-300 handles standard household loads: jeans, shirts, towels, bedsheets. It's your highest-volume machine because most customers bring everyday laundry. Lower vend price (typically $3-4) means more accessible pricing. These should make up 40-50% of your washer fleet.

T-600: The Large Load Solution

The T-600 handles comforters, blankets, large bedding sets, and multi-load bundling. Customers who would need two T-300 loads often prefer one T-600 load for convenience, even at a higher price ($5-7 typical). These should make up 30-40% of your fleet. They generate more revenue per cycle; on water, Dexter's spec sheets put one T-600 cycle at 35.1 gallons against 31.6 gallons for two T-300 cycles, so don't count on a water saving.

The Revenue Math

A T-300 running 8 cycles/day at $3.50 generates $28/day. A T-600 running 6 cycles/day at $6.00 generates $36/day. The T-600 uses more water per cycle but generates higher daily revenue with fewer cycles — meaning less mechanical wear over time.

Space Considerations

T-600 machines have a larger footprint: Dexter lists the T-600 at 29 7/8 in wide by 36 in deep against 26 in by 25 in for the T-300. The width gap is small (seven T-300s take about the same wall length as six T-600s), so the real cost of a T-600 is depth. Run the revenue math for your specific layout. Sometimes more small machines beat fewer large ones, especially in high-traffic locations where turnover speed matters.
